The end of Ramadan
Hala Sultan Tekke, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Islam, stands on the edge of the Larnaca Salt Lake. Each year, as Ramadan ends, families gather here for Eid al-Fitr, the festival marking the end of a month of fasting. Children run between the cypress trees. Elders sit counting worry beads.
Everyone here prays for a reason of their own. Ιt does not matter who to, or for what. A favor asked, a debt of gratitude, a wish carried quietly. Closed eyes, a moment of reflection. Whatever weight was carried in, it stays behind.
