Beirut, August 2006. Israel's airstrikes against Lebanon and Hezbollah stronghold in Al-Dahiya al-Janubiya, lasted for days and killed more than a thousand people, with most of them being civilians.
Blocks were leveled one after another. A car gutted by fire, a portrait of Hassan Nasrallah propped against the dashboard. A boy walked past a wall pasted with Khomeini's face, the building behind him stripped open. An old man picked through the rubble for what was his. Families moved through the wreckage in every direction, looking for a way out.
